The award is already handed out at Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Karlovy Vary.

The Europa Cinemas Label will be awarded for the first time at this year’s Locarno Film Festival.

The winning films receive support from the Europa Cinemas Network, with additional promotion and incentives for exhibitors to extend the film’s run on screen.

This year will be the tenth year that the Europa Cinemas Label has been awarded in Cannes, where past winners have included Breathing12:08 East of BucharestLa Pivellina, The Repentant and Le Quattro Volte.
