Major Korean exhibitor LotteCinema has announced it will start selling film tickets at automated tellermachines (ATMs) in subway stations and convenience stores starting in March ofnext year.

Lotte Cinema signed amemorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nice E-banking Services today regardingthe strategic alliance to sell tickets at the Nice ATMs in 1,400 locations.

A subsidiary of Lotte Group,which owns a chain of department stores and hotels, Lotte Cinema is also anaffiliate of distributor Lotte Entertainment. The fast-growing multiplex ownerhad 267 screens in 35 sites as of last month.

Nice E-banking Services heldan 80% market share in its field as of July 2006.

"Filmgoers will no longerhave to go on site to get good seats," says a Lotte Cinema spokesperson. "Thisnew system will allow them to search for information of films and book ticketseasily."
