Former vice president of MTV Films Luke Ryan has joined the MGM motion picture group as vice president of theatrical production.

Ryan will oversee the production and development of new MGM projects and reports to chairman of the worldwide motion picture group Mary Parent.

He will immediately get to work on priority projects including Darren Aronofsky's RoboCop reboot, as well as Cabin In The Woods, Red Dawn and Hot Tub Time Machine.

'[Luke] really understands great storytelling and with his combined production as well as development experience, he'll be able to jump right in and make an impact,' Parent said.

Ryan's projects at MTV Films included Friday The 13th. From 2000 to 2006 he served as executive at New Line where he held various creative positions and ultimately rose to director of development.
