UK-based production andsales company Lumina Films is launching its thriller label Panic Attack withDan Reed's Straightheads,starring Gillian Anderson, Danny Dyer and Anthony Calf.

Damian Jones (The HistoryBoys, Millions) and Kevin Loader (TheHistory Boys, Enduring Love) areproducing. The film is funded by FilmFour, the UK Film Council's New CinemaFund (which has invested £590,000), Screen West Midlands and UK distributorVerve Pictures. Verve will release theatrically in the UK.

The thriller is about acouple seek revenge after a brutal and unprovoked attack. Reed makes hisfeature film debut as a writer and director; he previously directeddocumentaries Terror In Moscowand The Valley.

"Straightheads epitomises the kind of thrillers Panic Attack willbe bringing to the market: smart, surprising and reasonably-budgeted from someexciting new talent," Lumina head of sales Samantha Horley said. "And in DanReed one would be hard pressed to find a more impressive first time director,which is why Film Four, The Film Council and Verve have put such huge faith inhim financially. It's a new direction for Lumina, but these are the kind offilms I love and, far more importantly, which can reap rewards, I was luckyenough to sell Memento which setthe benchmark."

Lumina is part ofMonaco-based media company IFC (International Film Collective Limited). Luminaalso has two other specialty labels: Buena Onda for Latin American films andDygra for animation.
