DreamWorks' animated zoofest Madagascar was the star of the domestic scene atthe weekend, passing $100m in its second weekend as it climbed two places to number one.

MeanwhileThe Longest Yard, which isdistributed through Paramount in NorthAmerica, is fast approaching the mark after the same amount of time. It stayedsecond on $26.1m for $95.8m.

Following behind by a whisker was Star Wars: Episode III -Revenge Of The Sith,which passed $300m in its third weekend.

The sci-fi saga fell two places to third on $26m for $308.8m andhas amassed more than $600m at theglobal box office. Whether it ranked third or in factsecond will be confirmed when actual grosses are released onMonday.

Overall box office fell against the comparative weekend of 2004for the 15thconsecutive weekend,despite three new releases.

Universal's Depression Era drama Cinderella Man directed by Ron Howard andstarring Russell Crowe as the boxer JimBraddock opened in fourth place on a slightly disappointing $18.6m. The picturewon rave reviews and averaged $6,619 on 2,812 screens.

Opening in fifth was Warner Bros' The Sisterhood Of TheTraveling Pants, a fantasy drama centering on fourfriends and a magical pair of pants. Produced by Alcon Entertainment, it ishandled in international territories by Summit Entertainment.

Ken Kwapis directed the well-received picture, which averaged$3,966 on 2,583 over three days.

Columbia's skateboarding drama Lords Of Dogtown directed by Catherine Hardwickeand starring Emile Hirsch and Heath Ledger opened in sixth on $5.7m. Itreceived mixed reviews and averaged $3,056 on 1,865 screens.

Elsewhere, Newmarket's R-rated documentary Rock School grossed $28,300 from 32 sites, andMiramax's ocean doecumentary Deep Blue took $8,036 from two.

Nextweekend's wide releases are: 20th Century Fox's action thriller Mr And MrsSmith starring Brad Pitt andAngelina Jolie; Dimension'sThe Adventures Of Shark Boy And Lava Girl In 3-D from Robert Rodriguez; Lions Gate's French horrorthriller High Tension; andParamount's comedy The Honeymooners,which stars Cedric The Entertainer.
