In what was described as a "substantial deal" on the eve of its main competition screening Aki Kaurismaki's The Man Without A Past was sold to BIM Distribuzione for Italy. The film is now handled by Bavaria Film International, having previously been sold by Orfeo/Christa Saredi.

Previous sales include Filmcoopi for Switzerland, Shapira Films for Israel and Prooptiki for Greece. Bavaria reports strong interest and firm offers from Spain, the UK and Japan.

Bavaria, which has an Italian service operation headed by Guiseppe Proietti, also scored Italian sales of its films In July by Fatih Akin and Mortal Transfer to All Star, Berlin prize-winner Grill Point (Halbe Treppe), Robert Schwentke's thriller Tattoo, Hella Joof's Shake It All About and 2000 Quinzaine entry No Place To Go all to Key Films.
