Frenchproducer Yves Marmion was elected as the new Chairman of the European FilmAcademy (EFA) on the eve of the weekend's European Film Awards ceremony.

Marmionhas taken over from Nik Powell who had been serving as EFA's Acting Chairmansince the sudden and unexpected death of the previous Chairman producer HumbertBalsan last February.

Marmion,who created the production company UGC YM after having been in charge ofproduction at UGC Images from 1991, has worked on such internationalproductions as Arizona Dream (1995), Une FemmeFrancaise (1995), The Chambermaid On The Titanic(1998), East-West (2000), and The Daltons(2004).
