Daniel Grodnik’s New York-based Mass Hysteria Entertainment Company has teamed up with financiers Seth Kramer and Curt Kramer to fund fledgling production company Remark Films.

The new venture will look to co-finance two to five films a year across genres in the $10m and below range. The company will also fund in-house development.

The first project on the books is Daughter Of God, Gee Malik Linton’s detective thriller starring Keanu Reeves and Cuban-born Ana de Armas that Fortitude International is selling. Cassian Elwes and CAA jointly represent US rights.

Linton wrote the script and is directing the project, currently shooting in New York. Reeves, Linton and Robin Gurland are producing while Elwes, the Kramer Brothers and Grodnik serve as executive producers.

“Curt and Seth Kramer are brothers who come to the film business from Wall Street and are two of the largest private investors in micro-cap companies with a portfolio that includes hundreds of private and publicly traded corporations,” said Grodnik.

“The filmic landscape has become more competitive in recent years for the independent producer and one of the ways to be able to secure the best projects is to have access to equity.

“I’ve known the Kramers for the past five years and we’ve done many successful deals together. They both have a passion for film I rarely find outside the business and I’m thrilled to be able to combine their world and mine to create a new home for independent movies.”

“As a pair of New Yorkers, we have a strong desire to foster independent film and support talented filmmakers,” said the Kramer brothers. “With our capital behind Dan, we know we’ll be able to put together a number of great projects to bring to worldwide audiences.”

Grodnik’s Mass Hysteria is also involved in a number of other current projects which includes an executive producer role on the Emmett/Furla-produced Bus 657 currently shooting in Alabama with Robert De Niro, David Bautista, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gina Carano and Kate Bosworth.
