FoxInternational's Master And Commander: The Far Side Of The World stirred up the international waters overthe weekend as it grossed $15m haul from 2,944 screens in 31 territories.

The naval epic's high spot was a $1.1m number one openingon 152 screens in Russia for Fox's fourth biggest bow of all time there.

The film openedin second place in Germany on $2m from 616 screens and expanded from last weekend'splatform release in the UK to 415 screens to take $2.9m for a $3.3m cumulativescore.

Fox claimed athird place finish, although it is understood New Line International isclaiming the same ranking for Elf.

Master AndCommander opened top inTaiwan on $671,000 from 134, with 10% of that amount coming from a singledigital screen.

In other bowsthe film ranked second in Spain on $2.5m from 372, first in Singapore on$253,000 from 31 and top in Malaysia on $125,000 from 43. The internationalrunning total is now $16m.

Elsewhere, thethriller Phone Boothpassed $50m at the international box office and Fox opened the local languagepick-up Beautiful Boxerat number one in Thailand, where it grossed $192,000 from 84.
