The Match Factory has taken world wide sales rights toHans Weingartner (The Edukators)'s new picture with the working title FreeRainer.

The film is a contemporary satirical drama with anunconventional love story, about a group of outcasts who undertake acultural revolution.

The picture, which will shoot later this year,is produced by Weingartner's own Berlin-based Kahuuna Films andAustria's Coop99.

The Edukatorsscreened in competition in Cannes in 2004 and sold to more than 50countries worldwide.

Cologne-based Match Factory's Cannes slateincludes Aki Kaurismaki's competition title, Lights in the Dusk and Un Certain Regard film You Am I by Kristijonas Vildziunas. Weingartner's"strong vision in his work and especially his ability to point outmodern life issues in a sharp but yet audience compelling way isunique," says The Match Factory's managing director Michael Weber.

The Match Factory was set up by former Bavaria FilmsInternational managing director Michael Weber at the beginning of 2006with Pandora Film producers Reinhard Brundig and Karl Baumgartner onboard as shareholders.

"Free Rainer is exactly the sort of film that The Match Factory stands for,"Weber said.

The Match Factory's Cannes line-up includes GoldenBear winner Grbavica, Rodrigo Moreno's ElCustodio, Claudia Llosa's Sundance and Rotterdam film Madeinusaand Rotterdam audience award winner, Eden by Michael Hofmann.
