Steve Matthews joins UK production company as development consultant

Steve Matthews has joined UK production company Black and Blue Films as a development consultant.

Matthews previously worked for Sony Pictures and The Works as well as co-creating and producing a horror series, Urban Gothic, for UK broadcaster, Five.  His most recent work includes TV film Compulsion starring Ray Winstone.

He is now developing an unpublished horror novel, Demon Cure, for Black and Blue, which is due to start shooting in May.

The company’s 2010 slate also includes Craig Fairbrass/Danny Dyer crime drama Gunned Down, remakes of 70s horror classics The Asphyx and Blood On Satan’s Claw and thriller Isle of Dogs, written and directed by Steven Berkoff.

Black and Blue CEO Jonathan Sothcott said: “In the tradition of Repulsion and Jacob’s Ladder [Demon Cure] is a nightmarish depiction of a descent into madness, a bit darker than our recent fare, and I’m very excited by it.”
