Hong Kong-based Media Asiahas boarded Feng Xiaogang's The Assemblyas co-producer and already sold almost all the territories it's handling on the$10m war epic.

Media Asia is handling salesin South-East Asia and has sold the film to Thailand's Rose Media and Entertainment, Golden ScreenCinemas in Malaysia and Galaxy Studio in Vietnam.

In addition, Singapore's Shaw Renters will release the film under its recentlyrenewed output deal with Media Asia, which will distribute itself in Hong Kong.

Produced by Beijing-basedHuayi Brothers and currently in production in China, The Assemblyis set during the Chinese Civil War and the Korean War in the 1940s and 50s.The story revolves around a captain in the Chinese army who is racked withguilt after losing all his men in battle.

Cast includes HuangXiaoming, who starred in Feng's last film TheBanquet, and new faces Zhang Hanyu and Deng Chao.

Korean production company MKPictures, which was involved in Kang Jegyu's Taegukgi in a previous incarnation, has been advising theproduction crew on special effects, make-up and cinematography in a productionservices capacity.
