Films by Hong Kong filmmaker Scud and Finland’s Riamo O. Niemi are among four new titles acquired by Media Luna New Films for international distribution.

Ida Martins’ Cologne-based sales company is to continue its relationship with Scud by handling his new film which is currently in postproduction, Love Actually…Sucks!, after previously representing the 2010 Berlinale film Amphetamine, Permanent Residence and City Without Baseball.

In addition, Media Luna has picked up Niemi’s youth romance Garbage Prince, which was produced by Finland’s Periferia Productions Oy with Norway’s Flimmer Film and will be released in Finnish cinemas on July 29 by the local outpost of Buena Vista International.

The sales lineup now also includes:

Taiwanese filmmaker Chi Y. Lee’s drama Blowfish which will have its world premiere in the Narrative Feature Competition at the forthcoming Taipei Film Festival (June 24 – 14 July)

and

Sonia Fritz’s thriller America, based on the novel America’s Dream by Esmeralda Santiago, which had its world premiere at the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival last March and is executive produced by actor Edward James Olmos.

Martins also revealed that she is now offering the Director’s Cut version of Indian director Prashant Bhargava’s feature debut The Kite (Patang) which had its world premiere at Berlin’s Forum section this year.

The Kushi Films production, starring Seema Biswas and Nawaz Siddiqui, weaves together the stories of six people set against the backdrop of India’s largest kite festival in the ancient city of Ahmedabad.
