UK distributor Metrodome has taken all UK rights to Stefan Ruzowitzky's Berlinale hit The Counterfeiters.

Sales agent Andreas Rothbauer of Beta Cinema negotiated the deal with Metrodome CEO Peter Urie, general manager - theatrical and broadcast Sara Frain and acquisitions & business affairs manager Kate Falconer.

Metrodome will release in the 'latter part' of 2007.

The film is based on the true story of the Nazis' plan to weaken the US and UK economies with forged currency.

'There is a huge appetite for compelling and gripping stories in the UK right now, and The Counterfeiters certainly fits the bill. We are thrilled to be bringing this largely unknown and fascinating story to UK audiences,' said Frain.

Beta has sold The Counterfeiters to more than 20 international territories, including North America (Sony Pictures Classics), Australia/New Zealand (Madman) and France (Rezo Films).

Metrodome's other 2007 releases will include Sherrybaby and Le Serpent.
