The horror genre is about to be revisited in Mexico with upcoming production Viva Frankenstein!, the latest feature from Sex Shame And Tears (Sexo, Pudor Y Lagrimas) co-producer Titan Producciones.

The project is to be directed by Daniel Gruener whose credits include All Of Them Witches (Sobrenatural), a psychological thriller that was a box office hit in Mexico and a favorite at various festivals including Sundance, Toronto, Camera Image, Cartagena and Puerto Rico.

Viva Frankenstein! will combine the rich tradition of fantasy cinema with Latino mythology in a bid to reinvent Mary Shelley's classic novel. Principal photography is slated to begin next summer in the tropical jungles and towns of Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Tabasco.

Acclaimed cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who is currently working with Oliver Stone on Beyond Borders, has committed to the project. He has shot a slew of acclaimed films including Mexico's Foreign Oscar entry this year, Amores Perros, Carlos Carrera's Un Embrujo, Michael Cristofer's Original Sin as well as All Of Them Witches.

Titan's 2001 slate includes Vivir Mata, to be directed by Nicolas Echevarria and La Hija Del Canibal, based on the novel of the same title, to be directed by Antonio Serrano (Sex, Shame And Tears).

In addition it will co-produce Al Borde Del Paraiso by Emilio Maille with France's Vertigo Productions and La Habitacion Azul, with Argos Cine, co-producer of Sex Shame And Tears.
