Michael Mann's Miami Vice will kick off the Locarno International Film Festival on August 2 with a gala screening on the Piazza Grande.

The screening of the all-star blockbuster, which stars Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, will mark Frederic Maire's first year as artistic director of the festival, which celebrates its 59th edition between August 2 and 12.

The full Locarno line-up will be announced next Wednesday, July 12.

Miami Vice will be released in German-speaking Switzerland on August 24, French-speaking Switzerland on August 16 and Italian-speaking Switzerland on October 6.

"I am delighted to be able to open this edition of the festival with such a fast-moving, packed and spectacular film," said Maire.
