UK-based Carlton International Media and Germany's TeleMuenchen have signed a wide-ranging agreement which covers co-production, licensing, a representation deal for German-speaking territories and an output deal with Carlton's Los Angeles-based offshoot Carlton America.

Under the terms of the four-part deal:

  • TeleMuenchen will co-produce a minimum of eight TV movies either with Carlton International in the UK or Carlton America.
  • TeleMuenchen gains access to all TV movies produced by Carlton America for US networks.
  • The German group will also license a range of titles from the Carlton Film Collection, which includes the Rank, Rohauer, Korda, Romulus and ITC film libraries.
  • TeleMuenchen will represent both the Carlton Film Collection and the Carlton Programme Catalogue - one the largest in Europe with 18,000 hours of programming - in German-speaking territories.
  • At the same time, Carlton America has launched a television development and co-production division, to be headed by Marc Lorber who was most recently vice president, television at Phoenix Pictures. Carlton America also recently announced an alliance with US-based Landmark Entertainment Group to develop children's and family programming.
