Miramax has acquired remake and US distribution rights to French-language comedy Jet Set which Hilltop Entertainment is selling internationally in collaboration with French packaging specialist Jean-Michel Ciszewski.

The film is a "fish-out-of-water" tale about a comedian's attempts to infiltrate the jet set in order to save a nightspot threatened by closure. It is directed by Fabien Onteniente and stars Samuel Le Bihan, Lambert Wilson and Ornella Mutti. TF1 Film Productions co-produced the title with Mandarin Film.

Although the $5.2m (FFr38m) film was ready only just in time for Cannes and did not benefit from any advance publicity it has already racked up $1.4m (FFr10m) in sales. Bac Films has acquired the title for domestic distribution and plans to give it a wide 450-print outing on June 14. Miramax plans to give Jet Set a platform release in Los Angeles and New York.

Jet Set is the second French title which Miramax acquired during or immediately after Cannes following Mercure Distribution's Harry, A Friend Who Wishes You Well, to which it also bought remake and US distribution rights.
