ModernEntertainment announced today (Feb 10) that it is expanding its distribution operationsto include international sales of new feature films, with the first threetitles named as The Pact, Liquid Bridge and Fear Of Speed. The company will be offering all three for worldwidetheatrical and television distribution at AFM next week. Until nowModern's core business has centred on distributing titles from its500-plus library to distributors and broadcasters. However in the past threeyears it has moved into co-producing and distributing formats, reality showsand dramatic series, for example with Lions Gate on the hit USA Network series,Stephen King's The Dead Zone.

The Pact and Liquid Bridge are two newly completed independenttitles from Australian producer-director Phil Avalon. The Pact concerns three friends who reconvene fora potentially lethal prank called train surfing that killed one of theirfriends. It stars Sigrid Thorton, whose credits include The Man From SnowyRiver and Sea Change, and Robert Mammone, who will appear inthe upcoming Matrixsequels. The picture was directed by Strath Hamilton and produced byAvalon's 3 Spears Avalon Films.

Avalon directed LiquidBridge, which stars Australian soapstar Ryan Kwanten as an ambitious young surfer whose crippled former pro surferfather warns him about the sport's perils. Fear Of Speed is an erotic street-racing thriller directed by JeffCentauri and produced by A55 Films and executive produced by Edy Ong, Alex Redand Jo Eric Mercado.

'We have been exploringthe market for some time now and we believe that these films offer enormousopportunities. They skew perfectly towards a young audience,' Modernpresident and CEO Michael Weiser said in a statement.
