Martial arts star Jackie Chan will be presented with a Special Grand Prix of the Americas at the 25th Montreal World Film Festival, Aug. 23 to Sept. 3. The festival is presenting similar tributes to Sophia Loren and producer Dino De Laurentiis. Chan will be present September 1 for a screening of one of his films.

In a statement, Montreal festival president Serge Losique likened the action hero to Charlie Chaplin: "Jackie Chan is not only one of the greatest artists of Asian and World cinema but also an artist whose humanism is remarkable. In different ways he reminds me of Charlie Chaplin's humanism. If we are today keen on Asian movies based on martial arts, this is mostly thanks to Jackie Chan.
