Morgan Creek has bought filmrights to The Tenth Victim, the long-gestating remake of Elio Petri'scult 60s futuristic thriller, and will fully finance the film with JohnMcTiernan attached to direct. Universal Pictures is handling domesticdistribution with Morgan Creek International handling sales in internationalterritories in Cannes.

McTiernan, whose creditsinclude Die Hard, Predator, The Hunt For Red October, Die Hard: With AVengeance and The Thomas Crown Affair, is currently rewriting thescript by David Klass, who also wrote Kiss The Girls and the recentlyreleased Walking Tall.

The project has been set atvarious companies over the years including Edward R Pressman Film Corp, CanalPlus, Helkon International Pictures and most recently Myriad Pictures. Fiveyears ago, Catherine Zeta-Jones was announced as the lead actress in the film,playing the role originally played by Ursula Andress, but she is no longerattached. Similarly Lee Tamahori was at one time to direct, and Myriad hadstruck a deal to shoot the film at Babelsberg Studios in Germany.

Morgan Creek is now the soleproduction entity on The Tenth Victim, which is the story of afuturistic TV show in which men and women hunt each other down and kill eachother for cash prizes and entertainment. Two star contestants are assigned tocompete with each other and fall in love.

The new version which cameto Morgan Creek earlier this year with McTiernan attached will be set 20 yearsin the future.

Morgan Creek, which had adistribution arrangement with Warner Bros for 13 years, last year moved to athree-year domestic distribution deal with Universal.
