Rising Britishstar David Morrissey (pictured) has been cast opposite Sharon Stone in the upcoming BasicInstinct 2: Risk Addiction.Michael Caton-Jones will direct the film which is due to start shooting forMario Kassar and Andy Vajna's C2 Pictures in London in March.

Stone reprises her famous role from the 1992 original asthe mysterious novelist Catherine Trammel, who this time round relocates fromSan Francisco to London and gets involved with Morrissey's ScotlandYard-appointed psychiatrist Dr Andrew Glass in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The long-gestating film has been searching for its leading man for several years with names like Benjamin Bratt and Bruce Greenwood in the mix at one time.

Intermedia,which partnered with C2 on Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, is financing the film; MGM will releasein North America and C2 is handling international sales itself.

Morrisseyrecently wrapped Miramax's thriller Derailed, in which he appears with JenniferAniston and Clive Owen. He also stars in Stephen Woolley's The Wild AndWycked World Of Brian Jones, based on the life and death of the Rolling Stones' guitarist.

Morrissey is an accomplished stage and television actor inthe UK and his previous film credits include Captain Corelli's Mandolin and Hilary And Jackie. He was recently seen in high-profile UK TV projectsThe Deal (as Gordon Brown) and StateOf Play.
