Comment on: Minding the store
Interesting that it is often cheaper to buy a dvd at a supermarket than online. Case in point - Cosmopolis £7 at Sainsburys, £12 at Amazon last week.
Comment on: NT Live: 'It's about getting back to the core of what the theatrical experience is about'
Hopefully the library of content will eventually be opened to home sales rather than just a few screenings. For those of us resident on the other side of the world it is not always possible to get to a cinema for the screenings, so a dvd (or internet streaming) would be great. This would also, reading the article, pass move revenue back to all the participants, something a theatre actor may appreciate.
Comment on: Over half of UK consumers admit to illegal film downloading
Yet again a news release that doesn't differentiate between downloading (to keep as a file) or streaming (watching but not keeping as a file). Anecdotally, my experience is that teenagers (especially) stream rather than download. It would be helpful to be sure that the Diffusion/OnePoll survey was really about downloads and not streaming.
Comment on: The Loneliest Planet wins Istanbul’s Golden Tulip
It would be really helpful if articles such as this one gave links to the reviews of any of these films.
Comment on: Lord Puttnam offers seven-point plan for 'copyright rehabilitation'
For piracy to be held back it has to be possible to buy material legitimately. There are too many films, songs etc unavailable legally which in today's world unfortunately pushes many consumers unto illegal actions.
Comment on: Transilvania IFF to open with Potiche, buzz about Romanian incentives
Great to see Romanian films getting better support, they have been some of the most challenging and rewarding films of the last few years. Maybe back catalogue (Stuff and Dough for instance) can be made more available on dvd so those of us unable to attend these festivals can see all rather than some of the lauded work.
