Comment on: Ridley Scott pays HR Giger tribute
Fusing the erotic, gothic and surreal Giger was an art movement unto himself. He inspired me from an early age with his fantastic dreamscapes and esoteric imagery. I was compelled to illustrate a tribute to him this week drawing imagery from his own works including Alien and the Birthing Machine at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2014/05/in-memoriam-hr-giger.html . Drop by and share how his artwork opened your own mind!
Comment on: Slave, Gravity split PGA vote
America very well needed a British film team to capture the levity of Solomon Northup’s story. The entire cast never pulled a punch and finally created a movie as vicious as slavery itself.
Comment on: Iron Sky director revives Hitler in 3D
Hitler was just a misunderstood artist. Rejection is the most brutal of human conditions and young Adolf underwent the metamorphosis into the monster of our historical lore by his rejection from art school. See him his happiest and read all about it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2010/02/happy-little-hitler.html
The Academy will certainly have to lower their nose to the general public’s level if they want to get their audience back. The awards have just really gone downhill the past few years and this year’s nominations in particular were completely out of touch with what people like.
Comment on: Magnolia strikes US deal for Marley doc
Bob Marley has influenced the entire world with his music, which will live on to be rediscovered by more and more generations to come. His work has affected my life and my art so much.
The Academy certainly went with much higher brow nominees this year which I think will lose them a large portion of their young audience. After doing better at being in touch with the public the past two years, these stiff nominees just fall flat.
Meryl may be headed for another Oscar nod for the Iron Lady but she’s never looked better than on the Zombie Walk of Fame as a featured diva at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/10/00-countdown-to-halloween-divas-of.html
Comment on: Marley and me
Bob Marley has influenced the entire world with his music, which will live on to be rediscovered by more and more generations to come. His work has affected my life and my art so much. I paid tribute to him with a surreal and psychedelic portrait inspired by his words.
