Elizabeth Banks will star in Alan Ball’s dark comedy What’s The Matter With Margie? which Myriad Pictures has introduced to buyers here.

UTA Independent packaged the film and represents US rights on the story of a downtrodden office worker who resorts to murder. Production is scheduled for early 2013 in Los Angeles.

Daniel Minahan will direct from Ball’s original screenplay and Anthony Bregman will produce with Ball.

“[What’s The Matter With Margie?] is very funny and dark and brilliant in the way that only Alan Ball can write,” Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico said. “I look forward to seeing the story come to life on screen.”

Myriad’s director of production and acquisitions Ari Haas brought the film to Myriad. SVP of business affairs David Ducar negotiated the deal for Myriad with UTA Independent.
