New Line Cinemahas acquired North American distribution rights to the romantic comedy LawsOf Attraction starringPierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore which is scheduled to go into production inDublin and New York on June 16, 2003.

The studio beatout other studios including MGM, Paramount and Disney to the film which isproduced by Deep River Productions, Brosnan's Irish Dreamtime, Stratus Filmsand Intermedia. Intermedia's sister company Initial Entertainment Group (IEG)is handling international rights at Cannes.

Peter Howitt,whose current hit Johnny English has already grossed nearly $100m before its domestic release, isdirecting Laws Of Attraction which is about two New York divorce lawyers who face off againsteach other inside and outside the courtroom. Howitt's other credits include SlidingDoors and AntiTrust.

The film is thethird recent domestic acquisition for New Line after thriller Me Again also from Intermedia and teen comedy Harold& Kumar Go To White Castle from Senator International.

Brosnan is alsoattached to star in After The Sunset for the studio, a thriller which is currently indevelopment.

The film isbeing produced by David Friendly, Marc Turteltaub, Beau St Clair and Julie Durkand executive produced by Moritz Borman, Basil Iwanyk, Bob Yari, Mark Gordon,Mark Gill and Arthur Lappin.

It was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, Karey Kirkpatrick andRobert Harling.
