Period drama up against Excuse Me, Teddy Bear, You and Me Forever, and A Hijacking for Best Film.

A Royal Affair, an 18th century drama starring Mads Mikkelsen, has secured six nominations for Denmark’s Bodil Awards, which the Danish Critics’ Association will hand out on March 16 at Copenhagen’s Bremen Theatre.

The film, directed by Nikolaj Arcel’s and produced by Zentropa Entertainments, is already up for a Golden Globe and is on the shortlist for Best Foreign-Language Feature at the Academy Awards.

It previously won two Silver Bears in Berlin for Best Original Screenplay (Arcel, Rasmus Heisterberg) and Best Actor (Mikkel Bo Følsgaard). At the Bodil Awards, Følsgaard will go up against Mikkelsen for the best actor prize.

Mikkelsen will also be in competition with his brother, Lars Mikkelsen, who has been nominated for his role in Katrine Wiedemann’s A Caretaker’s Tale.

Co-star Trine Dyrholm has been nominated for her leading role in both A Royal Affair and Susanne Bier’s Love Is All You Need.

Securing four nominations each are Kaspar Munk’s You and Me Forever, Tobias Lindholm‘s A Hijacking and Henrik Ruben Genz’s Excuse Me.
