EXCLUSIVE: President Tannaz Anisi and her team have returned from the Croisette following a slew of deals on two of the company’s prestige titles.

Extortion

Los Angeles-based 13 Films has sold action title Extortion starring Barkhad Abdi, Eion Baily and Danny Glover to Ascot Elite Entertainment for Germany, Signature Entertainment for the UK and Interfilm Co. for Japan.

Further deals closed in Spain (Corbi Media), Greece, Indonesia and Turkey (Tanweer), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), China (DDDream), South Korea (Sookie Pictures), and the Philippines (Ocotarts).

The film is in the final stages of post and made its market screening debut in Cannes. Phil Volken directs Extortion from his screenplay about a vacationing doctor who must find his kidnapped family after they are stranded on an island. Bethany Joy Lenz also stars.

Manhattan Nocturne stars Adrien Brody and Yvonne Strahovski and Grindstone Entertainment Group released the film in the US via the Lionsgate Premiere label on May 20.

The story about a journalist who tumbles into a web of sexual intrigue and blackmail will open in the UK through Altitude Film Distribution and in Japan via Zazie Films. Atlantic Film acquired rights for Scandinavia, Notorious Pictures for Italy, and Flins & Peniculas for Spain.

13 Films previously licensed rights for Germany (Telemunchen), Australia and New Zealand (Transmission), Latin America (Alebrije), South Africa (Ster-Kinekor), Greece (Tanweer), China (DDDream), Hong Kong (Deltamac), Middle East (Eagle Films), Taiwan (Winday), South Korea (With Lion), Portugal (Films 4 You), Turkey (Central Park), Thailand (Coral Culture Contents), former Yugoslavia (Dexin Film), and India (Pictureworks).

Captive Entertainment holds airlines rights and Fox TV will open across pan Asia.

The 13 Films slate includes Adrien Grenier political thriller Public Affairs, British dark comedy Croak written by David Thewlis, Worlds Apart starring J.K. Simmons, and The Forgiven, which will see Roland Joffé direct Forest Whittaker and Vince Vaughn

Supernatural thriller Voice From The Stone starring Emilia Clarke and Marton Csokas is in post.
