The Académie Des Arts et Technique du Cinéma unveiled the nominations for the César Awards at its traditional news conference at Le Fouquet’s restaurant on the Champs Elysées on Friday morning.

Actor Gallienne’s debut feature Me, Myself and Mum - a big screen adaptation of his autobiographical, one-man comedy show about his complicated relationship with his mother - secured 10 nominations.

They comprised best film, best first film, best director, best actor, best supporting actress, best adaptation, best editing, best sound, best set design and best costumes.

The film was produced and distributed by Gaumont, which also picked up another four nominations for The Young and Prodigious T.S Spivet and Turning Tide.

Abdellatif Kechiche’s Palme d’Or winner Adele: Chapters 1 & 2, produced and distributed by Wild Bunch, was nominated in eight categories including best film, best director and best adaptation.

The film’s co-stars Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos were nominated for best actress and new female newcomer respectively for their performances in the tale of a passionate, lesbian love affair.

Other pictures notching up multiple nominations included Albert Dupontel 9-Month Stretch and Alain Guiraudie’s Stranger by the Lake.

In the foreign language category there were nominations for Pablo Berger’s Biancanieves, Paolo Sorrentino’s The Great Beauty and Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity.

The award ceremony, which will be presented by Cécile de France and presided by Intouchables star Francois Cluzet, will take place in Paris on February 28.
