Oliver Stone to attend festival and receive lifetime achievement award.

Director Agnieszka Holland will preside over Karlovy Vary’s (June 28 – July 6) Festival Grand Jury, judging the Grand Prix Crystal Globe Awards for Best Feature Film, Special Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor. 

Three-time Oscar nominee Holland (Angry Harvest, In Darkness, Europa, Europa) will also show her three-part HBO series Burning Bush (2013), about Jan Palach, a 21-year-old student who set himself on fire in 1969 in protest against the Czech Communist regime, for the first time on the big screen.

The festival also announced today that US director Oliver Stone will attend the festival and receive its lifetime achievement award the Crystal Globe.

The festival will screen a number of Stone’s films including Scarface, Alexander and two episodes of The Untold History of the United States.
