In the latest bid by the exhibition sector to stay relevant in the digital age, AMC has partnered with Paramount Pictures on a premium-priced Interstellar ticket that allows multiple use.

For a price ranging from $19.99 to $34.99, depending on which of 330 country-wide locations members of the chain’s AMC Stubbs loyalty programme visit, the ticket will earn its owner unlimited repeat visits.

Loyalty scheme members who have already seen Christopher Nolan’s film can upgrade for $14.99.

In a press release, AMC said there would only be a limited number of commemorative passes on sale.

According to the release feedback from film-goers who have seen Interstellar indicates they have expressed a “strong interest in seeing it again in the theatre.”

Based on the stated price points, it would appear that the theatre chain and studio are betting most customers will not use the card more than twice.

Thus far the film has grossed an estimated $97.8m in North American theatres. The international performance through Warner Bros has grossed more than double the North American box office and stands at $224.1m.

“Christopher Nolan has created a masterpiece that movie fans are saying gets better every time they see it,” said AMC Theatres evp and chief content and programming officer Elizabeth Frank.
