Hong Kong-based Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has expanded its distribution deal with Lionsgate to include Japan and Korea, in addition to China and South-East Asia.

CTE will represent Lionsgate’s TV content, including its feature film library, exclusively in all four regions and territories. Lionsgate is a shareholder in CTE along with Saban Capital Group and Celestial Pictures, owned by Malaysian pay-TV operator Astro.

CTE’s sales team, headed by executive vice president Wendy Reeds, has previously concluded several all-rights deals, including theatrical rights, for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment films including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Red 2 in South-East Asia. 

The licensing team has lso sealed VoD deals with four leading platforms in China - iQIYI, Sohu, YOU On Demand and Youku.

“Our licensing business in Greater China and Southeast Asia has grown exponentially this past year and we are excited to now represent Lionsgate’s fantastic slate of television programs as well as Lionsgate’s prolific library, including Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment titles, in all of East Asia,” said Reeds.
