Deluxe Entertainment Services Group has acquired Hong Kong-based visual effects and post-production company Centro Digital Pictures for an undisclosed sum.

The company will be absorbed into Deluxe Australia’s operations. Centro general manager John Chu will continue to run the company, reporting to Deluxe Australia managing director Alaric McAusland.

Founded by John Chu in 1987, Centro worked on films such as Kill Bill and Kung Fu Hustle and co-produced children’s film The Secret Of The Magic Gourd with Disney. In 2010, Disney acquired Centro which worked on The Muppets for the studio.

“Centro represents a trusted gateway for Deluxe’s international customers looking to partner with Hong Kong and Chinese filmmakers,” said Deluxe in a statement.
