Fox Star Studios India CEO Vijay Singh has confirmed the studio will produce a Hindi remake of Fox’s 2010 action comedy Knight And Day, with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif heading the cast.

Roshan and Kaif will play the roles originally played by Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. He added that the remake is “inspired by Knight And Day” rather than a scene-by-scene reboot.

Siddharth Anand (Salaam Namaste) will direct the remake which has been scripted by Sujoy Ghosh and Suresh Nair with dialogues by Abbas Tyrewala. “We felt Knight And Day had an essence that could be taken into the Bollywood space,” said Singh.

Fox Star Studios’ slate for 2013 also includes Vishal Bhardwaj’s comedy drama Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola, starring Imran Khan; Tigmanshu Dhulia’s gangster film Bullet Raja, starring Saif Ali Khan; Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB, and Vishesh Bhatt’s Murder 3.

Fox is also developing three Tamil features - two of which will be directed by A. R. Murugadoss and the third, Raja Rani, will be produced by Murugadoss and directed by debutant Atlee.

“Going forward our strategy is to scale up to six-to-eight Bollywood films and three Tamil films a year,” said Singh. “This year we have had five successes – Ice Age 4 and Titanic 3D, plus Bol Bachchan, Jannat 2 and Raaz 3.”

Fox’s Life Of Pi was the opening film at IFFI and will be released across India this Friday (Nov 23).
