Korea’s Showbox/Mediaplex will handle international sales on hit director Yoon Jong-bin’s upcoming Kundo: Age Of The Rampant which has recently cast top stars Ha Jung-woo (The Yellow Sea) and Gang Dong-won (Secret Reunion).

Set in mid-19th century Joseon Dynasty, action film Kundo: Age Of The Rampant tells a Robin-Hood-type story of a group of outlaws that steals from corrupt officials to give to the downtrodden and starving.

Yoon’s Nameless Gangster: Rules Of The Time was a hit in the first half of this year, while his 2005 debut feature The Unforgiven previously went to Cannes. He met alumnus Ha when he was still in college and the actor starred in both those films as well as Yoon’s Beastie Boys and Na Hong-jin’s hits The Yellow Sea and The Chaser in between.

Gang has clocked up hit box office credits of his own in the spy thriller Secret Reunion and supernatural action thriller Woochi.

Ha will play Dolmuchi, a former butcher (one of the lowest class in Joseon Dynasty) who joins the outlaws to avenge the death of his family. Gang will play Jo-yoon, a nobleman’s son who is gifted in martial arts, but twisted by the fact that he was born to a concubine and thus has no rights in the family or Joseon society.

Produced by Moonlight Pictures and Showbox, Kundo: Age Of The Rampant is due to start production in the first half of 2013. Showbox is set to launch international sales on the film at the upcoming Hong Kong Filmart in March.
