Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE) has picked up a slew of territories, including the UK and France, to Chinese-Mongolian epic An End To Killing from Fortissimo Films.

UPIE, which is Universal’s international home entertainment arm, plans to release the film in early 2013 following Chinese theatrical release later this year.

The deal was brokered by Fortissimo managing director Nelleke Driessen and UPIE’s director of international acquisitions Jasper Van Hecke.

Directed by award-winning director Wang Ping, the film follows a Daoist priest who convinces Genghis Khan to give up violence in his later years.

Currently in post-production, it was produced by Shan Dong Film Studio, China Film Group and other Chinese partners with Japan’s Satoru Iseki and Korea’s Jooick Lee on board as international producers.
