A new training and networking scheme for upcoming British film and TV talent outside London is now open for applications.

Bafta Crew is the product of collaboration between the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy and Creative England.

The programme will offer masterclasses both in person and online, drawing on existing programming from Creative England’s traveling “crew nights” and Bafta’s ongoing master classes lead by British Academy Film Award winners.

The initiative aims to foster ‘below the line’ talent across the UK by allowing participants to network with feature film production teams and providing both technical and creative training in the fields of sound, art, post-production, costume and production management.

Kaye Elliot, head of production services and locations at Creative England, said: “The outside London production industry is growing all the time and it’s our job to ensure the regional offer is understood and freelancers based outside London can make the most of every opportunity.”

The application deadline is Feb 18, 2013, with 300 participants to be chosen by a panel of industry professionals. To be eligible, applicants must have two or more feature film or TV broadcast credits outside the M25.
