Industry jury selects more than 200 film and TV crew members outside of London for skills development networking programming.

BAFTA, Creative Skillset and Creative England have confirmed that more than 200 applicants have been selected to join BAFTA Crew, a new skills development and networking programming for craft and technical crew working in film and TV in England.

The successful participants work across production design, camera, costume, editing, hair and make-up, production management, sound and visual effects.

The initiative has been established to enhance the film production skills of crew across England in a bid to support the production infrastructure and develop ‘below the line’ talent outside of London.

Those selected will be invited to take part in live and online masterclasses,  delivered by film industry professionals, at venues across the country.

Eve Stewart, the BAFTA-winning production designer behind Les Miserables and The King’s Speech, will deliver the first live masterclass on April 6 at Cornerhouse in Manchester.

Anita Overland, the BAFTA-winning producer behind In This World and Red Riding, will give the second live masterclass on May 22 at FACT in Liverpool. It will also be streamed live exclusively for BAFTA Crew members.

A limited number of public tickets will be available from the venues.

Other exclusive content for BAFTA Crew members will include an online masterclass and interactive Q&A delivered by BAFTA and Academy Award-winning production sound mixer Simon Hayes, who worked on Les Mis and Prometheus, and an online CV workshop with Laurily Adams of talent agent Sara Putt Associates.

BAFTA Crew members will also have access to Creative England’s Production and Location Services team who crew feature, television drama and documentary productions.

The industry jury was chaired by Nicky Ball, national crew and facilities manager at Creative England, and comprised professionals from across the craft and technical areas, including BAFTA-nominated hair and make-up designer Lizzie Yianni Georgiou (An Education, Made in Dagenham), BAFTA-nominated sound recordist Simon Clark (Line of Duty, The Promise), and camera operator Peter Cavaciuti (Skyfall, Thor).
