Despite reports of a slow European Film Market and a subdued reaction to the festival selection, figures were up at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival.

The festival, which ran from Feb 7-17, reported sales of 303,077 tickets – up on the 299,362 sold for the 2012 event.

The number of accredited visitors was down slightly to 19,630 (including press) from 124 countries. In 2012, the Berlinale drew 19,761 visitors from 130 countries.

However, the number of participants at the EFM topped 8,000, up on the previous year’s total of 7,920.

Across the nine days of the EFM, a total of 816 films were shown, up on 761 in 2012.

Despite the positive figures, reaction to this year’s market was mixed. [Click here for full report]
