The inaugural Luminous gala aims to raise funds to preserve and digitize the UK’s National Collection of film and TV, with attendees including Danny Boyle, Ralph Fiennes and Jude Law.

The BFI is to host a gala aimed at raising funds for its National Archive collection.

Hosted by Jonathan Ross, the inaugural Luminous gala, will take place on Ocotber 8, with a raft of industry heavyweights expected to attend. Ambassadors of the event include Danny Boyle, Barbara Broccoli, Idris Elba, Eric Fellner, Julian Fellowes, Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth, Tom Hiddleston, Jude Law and Emma Thompsom.

The Luminous committee is chaired by Warner Bros CEO Josh Berger.

The gala aims to raise funds to preserve and digitize the UK’s National Collection of film and TV.

It will feature specially commissioned creative content from Idris Elba, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Vanessa Redgrave and Martin Scorsese alongside filmmakers Destiny Ekaragha and Bola Agbaje as well as an auction.

Prizes include the Formula 1 replica car from Rush, John Travolta’s suit from Face/Off, child and adult walk-on parts in BFI Film Fund films, original signed stills from Sam Taylor Wood’s I Love You Moreandthe opportunity to join Ken Loach editing his latest film Jimmy’s Hall.

The gala will take place at 8 Northumberland Avenue in London, backed by Bulgari Hotel & Residences.

Amanda Nevill, CEO BFI, said it was the “first of what we hope will be a very important event in the film calendar.”
