Lionsgate’s blockbuster clung on to its number one berth for the fourth weekend in a row as an estimated $21.5m saw the running total surge to $337.1m and more than $531m worldwide.

Fox’s comedy The Three Stooges from the Farrelly Brothers opened in second place on $17.1m, while Lionsgate’s acclaimed horror The Cabin In The Woods coasted into third on $14.9m.

The only other new release to break into the top ten was the sci-fi action Lockout starring Guy Pearce, which ranked ninth through FilmDistrict on $6.3m.

Universal’s family hit Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax ranks tenth on $204.5m.

TWC’s documentary Bully opened in 15th place on $534,000 from 158 theatres for a poor $3,380 site average.

Codeblack Entertainment’s thriller Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On The 7th Day opened one place above on $650,000 from 102 for a so-so $6,373 average.

Next weekend’s wide releases include Warner Bros’ romance The Lucky One with Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling, Screen Gems’ comedy Think Like A Man with Gabrielle Union, Taraji P Henson, Kevin Hart and Michael Ealy, and Disney’s documentary Chimpanzee.
