Arts journalist and programmer Marc Glassman will receive The DOC Institute’s Rogers-DOC Luminary Award and filmmaker Chelsea McMullan the DOC Vanguard Award.

The Rogers-DOC Luminary Award, supported by the Rogers Group of Funds, is presented to an individual who embodies the creative spirit of the Canadian documentary tradition and supports the next generation through mentorship.  

The DOC Vanguard Award is presented to an emerging or mid-career professional, who demonstrates a keen artistic sensibility and forward thinking approach to the craft, with the potential to lead the next generation of doc-makers. 

The 2015 honours will be presented at a ceremony on December 10 at the DOC Institute Honours Celebration at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto.

  • Kenneth Welsh has joined Aaron Poole, Daniel Fathers, Kathleen Munroe and Ellen Wong in upcoming horror thriller The Void for directors Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie and producers Casey Walker of Cave Painting Pictures and Jonathan Bronfman of JoBro Productions. Walker and Bronfman produce in association with XYZ Films, who jointly represents North American sales alongside CAA. The Salt Company handles international sales. Financing is by 120 DB and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
