New pavilion is dedicated to the future of cinema and will feature round-tables, special presentations and workshops, among others.

Cannes Marché du Film is introducing a new NEXT pavilion for this year’s festival, dedicated to the future of cinema.

For the duration of the 67th edition, NEXT is hosting a wide range of exhibitors, including Power to the Pixel, Wallimage and Mubi, who will share new economic models for the Marché’s participants.

NEXT will also feature round-tables, workshops, special presentations and networking events on new and alternative forms of storytelling, production, financing and distribution.

Jérôme Paillard, executive director of the Marché du Film, commented: “One of the goals of the Marché is to anticipate on the needs of our participants and to explore and highlight as far as possible new potential and possibilities for the film industry. In this sense, NEXT becomes a privileged lab in Cannes to kick start ideas, engage professionals and examine new challenges ahead.”

NEXT will open with a round-table on the realities of a digital demand-driven age, hosted by Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Curzon Cinema World.
