Nine films will compete for the 2013 Short Film Palme d’or, presided over by director and jury president Jane Campion.
While the official selection of feature films for the 66th Festival de Cannes will be revealed on Thursday [Apr 18], the list of short films has been unveiled in advance.
The selection committee received 3,500 titles for the short films competition, representing production from 132 countries.
The winner will be awarded by Campion at the festival’s closing ceremony on May 26.
The shortlist includes a Palestinian film for the first time.

CINEFONDATION SELECTION
Additionally, the Cinéfondation Selection selected 18 films (14 fiction, four animated) from 1,550 submissions from 277 schools worldwide.
A third of the schools in the shortlist have been selected for the first time. The shortlist includes a Chilean film for the first time.
The three Cinéfondation Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony prior to the screening of the winning films on May 24 in the Buñuel Theatre.
