Cinedigm and Voltage Pictures have signed a three-year, five-film output deal with Marco Weber’s new genre label Rapid Eye Film.

Rapid Eye will develop, finance and produce the films, while Cinedigm will provide US theatrical, VoD, digital, TV and DVD release and Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures will represent international sales rights.

First to go is sci-fi thriller Unraveling, which is currently out to casting. Weber wrote and will direct the project and produces alongside his longtime producing partner Vanessa Coifman.

Miggel Schwickerath also serves as producer and collaborated on The Informers with Weber when the latter ran the now defunct distributor Senator Entertainment US

Unraveling will shoot in Los Angeles in spring and is described as Angel Heart meets Seven.

“Marco and I have a long and successful history, going back to Igby Goes Down,” said Cinedigm chairman and CEO Chris McGurk. “And, we are thrilled to work with Nic and his team at Voltage to bring these exciting new films to the worldwide marketplace.”

“We loved the script of Unraveling and wanted to be involved with Marco on this one and his next movies,” said Chartier. “Cinedigm is growing very fast and having a US distributor on the films will be great for all our international partners.”

Cinedigm has separately acquired US and select international digital distribution rights to Weber’s directorial debut Leashed, a dark teen thriller starring Chad Lowe. The film premiered at Sitges.
