Eighth edition of Texas-based genre festival runs Sept 20-27.

Following on from the previously announced Frankenweenie as its opening film, Fantastic Fest has unveiled the first wave of film programming for its eighth edition, which runs Sept 20-27 at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, Texas.

Among the titles announced are the red carpet premiere of Pete Travis’ 3D reboot Dredd, as well as seven US premieres including Mattias Hoene’s comedy-horror Cockneys Vs. Zombies, Eron Sheean’s thriller Errors Of A Human Body and Tower Block, James Nunn and Ronnie Thompson’s thriller from a screenplay by Severance writer James Moran.

The festival has also announced a House Of Psychotic Women sidebar, hosted by author and former Drafthouse programmer Kier-la Janisse. Janisse will introduce each screening in the strand, including the likes of Sidney J. Furie’s controversial 1982 horror The Entity among others, and will be signing copies of the book - an autobiographical exploration of female neurosis in horror and exploitation films - afterwards.
