On the eve of Berlin, Content has snapped up international sales rights excluding Chile to Sundance hit Crystal Fairy starring Michael Cera. As reported previously, IFC Films holds North American rights.

Sebastian Silva earned the directors award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition in Park City.

Crystal Fairy is a road movie about a self-absorbed American in Chile who coerces several local friends and a newcomer to head for the beach to sample the psychotropic delights of the legendary San Pedro cactus.

Gaby Hoffman and the Silva brothers, Juan, Jose and Agustin round out the key cast.

Juan de Dios Larrain and Pablo Larrain – the film-making team behind the best foreign language Oscar nominee No – produced Crystal Fairy.

Content’s Harry White negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group.

“This is a story about friends, and humour is the driver,” said Juan de Dios Larrain. “We had a lot of fun working on it. Now its time to present Crystal Fairy to the international world, and we are delighted Content has come on board.”
