The renowned professional’s feature credits include Moonstruck, Three Days Of The Condor, Lenny and …And Justice For All. He died in New York on Apr 1 a day after his 80th birthday.

Maitland worked on more than 80 features and collaborated with directors like John Cassavettes, Paul Mazursky, Norman Jewison, Herb Ross and Arthur Hiller.

He received the Cinema Audio Society’s highest honour – the Career Achievement Award in 2009 at the 45th awards show.

He is survived by his children Kim, Tod and Dennis Jr – all of whom followed their father into the industry – and his wife Marja, mother Mildred Atkinson and seven grandchildren.
