Mara Sternthal has been promoted from senior vice-president of business development to general manager at Global Media Exchange (GMX).

Sternthal played an integral role in positioning GMX, an online B2B professional video marketplace powered by Ascent Media Group. She reports to William Niles, Ascent Media’s executive vice-president and general counsel and secretary.

GMX launched on October 1 2009 with the aim of bringing together and generating new licensing opportunities for global media companies and professionals.

To date, GMX has secured more than 750 registered content buyers and sellers including The MGM Channel, Discovery Networks, Starz Entertainment, Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Televisa Digital, Globo and Fox Latin American Channels.
