BAFTA/LA will honour Emily Blunt with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year.

The award will be given out at the 2009 he British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles Britannia Awards on November 5 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

“In just a few short years, Emily Blunt has gone from breakout success in My Summer of Love to blockbuster hits like The Devil Wears Prada and the upcoming The Young Victoria and The Wolfman,” said BAFTA/LA Chairman Peter Morris. “Emily continuously demonstrates an impressive range in her performances and with each movie solidifies her status as one of the best actresses of her generation.”

The Young Victoria has already been released in the UK and will hit US cinemas later in 2009 and The Wolfman is slated for release in November. In May 2009 she will start shooting Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black.

Last year’s honoree was Tilda Swinton.
